Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur

Imposing walls, zigzag lanes, intricately carved gates and regal halls best describe this man-made beauty in Jodhpur. Counted amongst India’s most majestic forts, Mehrangarh Fort is reminiscent of royal Rajput culture and architecture. This mighty structure is quite significant to the city and is also one of the best places from where one can enjoy the gorgeous views of the ‘Blue City’, as they call Jodhpur fondly. Climb up to cannon point inside the fort which is also the highest point of the fort to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the city. Chittorgarh Fort, Chittor

A fine example of Rajasthani architecture, the mammoth Chittor Fort is spread over 700 acres and is one of the most significant forts of Rajasthan. Owing to its rich heritage value, the fort was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 2013. The fort is said to be built by Chitrangad Mori of the Maurya dynasty back in the 7th century AD. Being one of the most important forts in the country, a number of people visit the fort to have an insight into its glorious past.




Amer Fort, Jaipur

You’ll need quite some time to admire the beauty of this super amazing and gorgeous fort in Jaipur. Amer Fort or Amber Fort is a hilltop fort, which served as the capital of Rajputs for more than seven centuries and now it has become an important landmark of Jaipur. The fort is a fine example of Hindu and Mughal architectures and encloses several palaces inside, including Sheesh Mahal (the Hall of Mirrors). The grandeur and beauty of the fort has always attracted people from Bollywood and a number of movies have been shot inside, including super hit flicks ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ and ‘Jodha Akbar’.



Lake Pichola, Udaipur

There’s a reason why Udaipur is called the ‘City of Lakes’ and one of the reasons is beautiful blue Lake Pichola. This picturesque lake is one of Udaipur’s most iconic sights and lined along the lake are some of the most significant palaces, temples and hills and havelis. What will blow your mind is the centrepiece of the lake, the Lake Palace on Jag Niwas Island, which is made using pure white marble. If you watch Bollywood cinemas then you must have noticed it in the recent flick ‘Dhadak’. There are several restaurants in the surrounding from where one can enjoy gorgeous sunset and sunrise views over the lake. It’s absolutely mesmerising!



Sam Sand Dunes, Jaisalmer


Another jewel in the crown of Rajasthan is Thar Desert and Sam Sand Dunes, where one can enjoy camel safari and night camping amidst golden desert. Located in the Sam Village, this is probably the best places where you can have authentic Rajasthani experience. Around 45 km from the main city, the best way to explore the beauty of these dunes is through camel safari. If you stay overnight here at a camp, you might also get a chance to enjoy campfire and Rajasthani folk music and dance performances which are absolutely mesmerising.




Junagarh Fort, Bikaner


Junagarh Fort, one of the significant tourist attractions in Bikaner, was built in 1478 under the rule of Maharaja Rao Bika. The fort displays a perfect blend of Mughal, Gujarati and Rajput style of architectures and you’ll be awestruck with the imposing courtyards that add to the beauty of the fort. It’s hard not to fall in love with artistically done balconies and courtyards along with elaborate windows which are eye-catching. From mirror work to frescos, everything here makes this fort attractive and gorgeous. Inside there are several small mini mansions and palaces including Anup Mahal, Chandra Mahal, Dungar Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Diwan-e-khas and Ganga Mahal, which are must visit, of course.





Ranakpur Jain Temple, Ranakpur


A group of intricately carved temples together make Ranakpur Jain temple which are absolutely breathtaking. Because Rajasthan is renowned for its imposing olden forts and gorgeous palaces, people generally tend to overlook these beautiful Jain temples at Ranakpur, which are quite well-hidden in a dark forest on the banks of the Maghai River. Located some 90 km from Udaipur, these are three major Jain temples constructed using white marble. These temples are dedicated to the very famous and sacred Tirthankara or gurus of Jains, namely Rishabhdev, Parsvanatha and Neminath. Make sure you visit these temples when visiting Udaipur next time!
